Gabapentin (Neurontin) and Meloxicam (Mobic) drug interactions
Meloxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication and gabapentin is an anticonvulsant medication used to treat seizures. When gabapentin and meloxicam are taken together, they have different effects on the pain. This regimen is usually employed for chronic painful condition such as back pain and scoliosis. Studies have been done to find the interaction between gabapentin and meloxicam, hysterectomy and spinal surgery inpatient showed interactions between cox-2 inhibitors and gabapentin. Post-surgical pain was significantly reduced by a combination of gabapentin and meloxicam. Nausea was found to be decreased, when gabapentin and meloxicam were taken together. Therefore, these drugs showed combined effect and increased potency of each other.
