Gabapentin and valium drug interactions
Gabapentin a third generation antiepileptic drug, is a structurally gamma amino butyric acid, which is an important mediator in the central nervous system of the brain. A study has been conducted to investigate gabapentin and gabapentin with valium as an antidepressant and anxiolytic like effect in rat. Elevated plus maze and forced swimming tests were used as an experimental model of anxiety and depression, respectively. It was observed that gabapentin showed antidepressant and anxiolytic effect in all the rats. But, there was an increase of antidepressant and anxiolytic effect in rats, which were administered with gabapentin and valium. The combination of gabapentin and valium had more potent antidepressant and anxiolytic effect as compared to gabapentin alone.
