Can gabapentin cause headaches?
Gabapentin can cause headache which is a mild side effect symptom. Gabapentin has no history in causing headache, but in low doses it is used to be helpful in the management of chronic daily headache. A study was conducted in which 21 consecutive patients suffering from chronic daily headache agreed to take low doses of gabapentin in the management of their headache and withdrawal symptoms. A single night dose of gabapentin (300 or 400 mg) was started and the patient was encouraged to avoid taking any kind of headache relief medication during the follow up. When patient reported headache free periods for consecutive seven days, the dose of gabapentin was decreased over a period of one week and subsequently withdrawn.
